March 3, 2010—Peachtree Playthings, Atlanta, is recalling approximately 127,000 sets of licensed children’s utensils because they pose a choking hazard.
The middle two prongs of the plastic forks sold in the company’s Scooby-Doo, Tweety (pictured) and Batman Fork and Spoon Sets can detach, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. Peachtree Playthings has received one report of a middle prong detaching from the fork. No injuries have been reported.
The utensil sets were sold at Dollar Tree Stores and Deals in January 2010 for about $1 per set. They were made in China.
Consumers are asked to return the product to Dollar Tree or Deals for a full refund.
