EL SEGUNDO, Calif.—Mattel will open a Barbie branded pop-up store in Minnesota’s Mall of America on October 2.
Dubbed The Barbie Shop at Mall of America, the store will offer Barbie-themed T-shirts (including shirts created by fashion designers like Kenneth Cole and Patricia Field), tote bags, dolls and playsets, as well as accessories such as umbrellas, bracelets and scarves.
It will also include a “What a Doll” exhibit that offers visitors a retrospective featuring more than 60 iconic Barbie dolls of years past, and several special events, the most notable of which will be a Nov. 27 unveiling of a “Barbie Loves the Holidays” exhibit, the first ever public display of every holiday Barbie doll ever created.
Barbie’s Mall of America store is the brand’s third profile-raising retailing effort this year, following debuts earlier in 2009 of boutiques at Bloomingdales in New York City and at Fred Segal in Los Angeles.
The Mall of America location will close in March 2010.
