ToyQuest marks Frisbee inventor's passing

LOS ANGELES—ToyQuest says it will donate a portion of the 2010 proceeds from its new Banzai Yo-Be action toy to the American Cancer Society in memory of Frisbee inventor Fred Morrison.
The toy, which combines a yo-yo and a flying disc, was named the ToyAward winner in the Fun + Sport category at this month’s Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair Nuremberg.
“Mr. Morrison and his invention of the Frisbee established an inspiring standard of excellence,” said Peter Magalhaes, Vice President Business Development, ToyQuest. “Perhaps in some special way, Mr. Morrison has passed the torch and it is now Banzai’s responsibility to deliver the next generation action toy to consumers worldwide.”
Walter “Fred” Morrison, credited with inventing the Frisbee flying disc made famous by Wham-O, passed away February 9 at his home in Monroe, Utah, from cancer. He was 90 years old.
