Activision acquires Toys for Bob

SANTA MONICA—Activision, Santa Monica, Calif., acquired Toys for Bob, the Novato, Calif.-based console developer. Under the agreement, Toys For Bob is a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision.
Activision, the developer behind the Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Spider-Man and Doom games, also signed long-term contracts with the 27-person team at Toys For Bob. Employees for Toys for Bob will continue to be based in Novato. Activision now has a total of approximately 1,000 employees.
Toys for Bob is currently finishing work on a game for the new Disney animated film, Madagascar for GameCube, Xbox and PlayStation 2, which bows later this month. Toys for Bob is also in pre-production on another title for release in 2007.
