Heads up, arachnophiles. Columbia TriStar is releasing Spider-Man on VHS and DVD Nov. 1. Toy Biz, meanwhile, introduces the learning segment of its Spider-Man and Friends line this fall. "The characters have always resonated with children and provide a basis from which to entertain and teach preschoolers," says the company's vice president of marketing, Kathryn Maciel. Spider-Man Motorized Shape Sorting Truck teaches shapes, colors and sounds via shaped superheroes like Spidey, Cap and the Hulk…Next February, Games Workshop plans to release Codex: Daemonhunters and corresponding miniatures to use as an independent army on the tabletop battlefield or to support Space Marine or Imperial attachments. The release comes on the heals of several new minis for Chaos troops plus Codex: Chaos Space Marines for October…The Pokémon juggernaut continues. Nintendo's Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire for Game Boy Advance launch Nov. 21 in Japan and stateside in '03…Hollywood's not the only one looking for retro properties. Video game makers will be releasing titles based on anime milestones (Robotech by TDK), the king of all monsters (Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters by Infogrames), old Nintendo characters (Metroid Prime by Nintendo) and arcade classics (Shinobi by Sega) starting this fall…For more buzz visit playthings.com.
