Staffing up
As far as we are concerned, more is...well, more
by Maria Weiskott, Editor-in-Chief -- Playthings, 5/1/2004
We've increased the number of our pages, we've increased the magazine's dimensions and this month, we are pleased to announce PLAYTHINGS is increasing the magazine's staff as well.
When we told you back in March that our action plan for these tough times included "planned expansion—yes, even in the face of an industry in the throes of consolidation," we meant it!
Joining us as PLAYTHINGS Midwest Sales Manager is Garry Grenier. No stranger to the industry, many may remember that Garry was with us back in the late 1980s before joining our sister publication, Gifts & Decorative Accessories, where he's been for the past 16 years.
As we know, the gift and toy industries are closely related, so Garry has definitely "hit the ground running." He's also learned more than the average share of information about toys during the last several years. The father of 4½ (going on 14!) -year-old triplets, he's definitely tuned in to the importance of play and toys, of course!
Based in the Oak Brook, Ill., offices of Reed Business Information— PLAYTHINGS parent—in addition to Illinois, Garry's territory includes the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and in Canada—Manitoba and Ontario.
And in the West, Moira Coyne joins PLAYTHINGS as Sales Manager, based in Santa Monica, Calif. Moira has spent the past six years as an outside sales representative with Baker & Taylor, Inc.—where she managed a client base that ranged between 1,000 and 3,000 accounts in California and Hawaii.
Prior to her tenure there, she held several positions related to publishing, including working for a literary agency. Moira's territory includes 11 western states.
Our new advertising team members join East Coast Sales Manager Suzanne Rozick, a highly regarded member of our staff who has been with PLAYTHINGS for almost five years and who you've likely met any number of times at an industry event.
Suzanne came to the industry with nine years of publishing sales experience under her belt, having directed a staff of 15 at the Advertising Specialty Institute.
And rounding out our sales team is our "insider," Shani Ben-Moshe, who oversees our Marketplace and Classified sections. A staff member for nearly four years, she is also involved in special projects.
Inside and out, we've got you covered!
