Next in line for toy manufacturers gone online like Mattel, Ohio Art and Leapfrog, Hasbro will launch a direct-to-consumer Web site this month with links for direct shopping. HasbroToyShop.com will focus on the My Little Pony, Weebles, VideoNow brands and games from Milton Bradley and Parker Bros. to start. A 3 ¾ -inch G.I. Joe will also be reintroduced on July 1 with additional figures available to select online retailers.
Same ole same ole for KB ToysIt's business as usual for KB Toys; even though its parent, Bain Capital Partners LLC is now a part owner of Toys “R” Us. KB, the fourth largest toy retailer in the United States, will continue to work its way out of bankruptcy and move forward with or without any TRU affiliation
Disney preschool onlineThis summer, Disney Online, part of the Walt Disney Internet Group, will launch, Playhouse Disney Preschool Time Online, a learning-based program for pre-school age children. The interactive site will help kids prepare for kindergarten with specialized lessons through games, puzzles and other activities.
Inaugural toy auditions at FAONew toys are on the horizon thanks to FAO Schwarz. The store recently gave creators and inventors a forum to present their new products at the first Toy Audition, held at the New York City store. Each month, toy makers can audition their toys and in turn have their products offfered for sale in the FAO stores, catalogue and Web site.
