Mega Bloks to acquire Rose Art
Mega Bloks, Montreal entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Rose Art, Livingston, N.J., for $350 million. The agreement combines two companies focused on construction toys, arts and crafts, and other creative-activity products, and is expected to close during third quarter 2005. In addition to becoming major shareholders, Lawrence Rosen, Rose Art's president and CEO, and Jeffrey Rosen, executive vice president, will assume senior management positions in Mega Bloks.
Playthings co-sponsor for New York Comic-Con
Playthings will be one of the co-sponsors of the New York Comic-Con, a new trade and consumer event that will be launched by Reed Exhibitions in February 2006. Reed is a sister company to Reed Business Information, parent of Playthings. The New York Comic-Con will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Center February 24-26, 2006.
Playthings gets gold and silver
Playthings magazine is the winner of three awards from Trade Association and Business Publications International (TABPI), which represents English language B2B magazines around the globe. Playthings will receive gold and silver medals for its February and May 2004 covers respectively, and November 2004's “State of the Industry” piece took an honorable mention.
