New DVDs have more character

When Mister Rogers' Neighborhood first aired in 1967 on Pittsburgh's WQED, it was the beginning of a children's TV series classic. Sadly, the popular series ended in 2001; the show's star, Fred McFeely Rogers, passed away in 2003. As Mister Rogers' legacy continues, more TV characters come to DVD this year.
In Mister Rogers' Neighborhood: Going to School, from Anchor Bay Entertainment, Troy, Mich., two 30-minute episodes help kids prepare for school. Bonus features and two games are included on the DVD, as well as recipes, flashlight games and tips in an inside booklet for parents and caregivers.
Also from Anchor Bay this holiday season is The Happy Elf, the story of Eubie the elf, voiced by Harry Connick Jr., who decides to bring Christmas to a sad town called Bluesville.
In The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Culver City, Calif., the puppets from the Jim Henson Company teach kids how differences make everyone unique.
The DVD includes three episodes, The Gink, The Cat in the Hat Takes a Nap and The Feed you Need, based on the Wubbulous series, which first aired on Nickelodeon in 1996.
