Hasbro Acquires WrebbitHasbro, East Longmeadow, Mass., will acquire the assets of Canadian game manufacturer Wrebbit. Wrebbit is known as a creator and manufacturer of puzzles, particularly its Puzz-3D and Perfalock puzzle lines. Wrebbit president Paul Gallant will “remain a key player in the integration of the two companies' puzzle lines,” Hasbro said in a prepared statement. “Our two companies have a long history of working together and this is a natural progression of our relationship,” Gallant said.
Eating Build-A-Bear StyleBuild-A-Bear Workshop, St. Louis, has partnered with Levy Restaurants to open the Eat With Your Bear Hands Café in the New York City flagship store. The restaurant, which opened September 16, will offer customers samplings of mini-hot dogs with fries, chicken nuggets, and pizza cut into strips—all for eating with “bear” hands. The 100-seat restaurant will be located in the store's lower level. Kids will also be able to design their very own bear-shaped sugar cookies with icing from a variety of rainbow-colored tubes.
Byrne Joins HITPeter Byrne joined HIT Entertainment, London, as executive vice president, international licensing, merchandising & home entertainment. Byrne's responsibilities include expanding the existing consumer products and home entertainment businesses for HIT's pre-school brands, including Bob the Builder, Thomas & Friends, Barney, Pingu and Angelina Ballerina, as well as launching new content across all major international territories. Byrne is based in the company's London office and reports to Bruce Steinberg, chief executive officer.
