Time to sleep

Sleep is essential to a child’s health, according to the National Sleep Foundation, Washington, D.C. However, for most parents, their child’s slumber time doesn’t come easy. Each child has different sleep patterns, so it’s important to have help for tough sleep nights. According to the Sleep in America poll in 2004, more than 69 percent of children have sleep problems.
Owner/founder, PRE Records, Los Angeles, Michael Preston, created the Infant Calm CD after learning that hair dryers and oven fans helped his daughter Faye fall asleep.
Preston, who produced an album for rock band Motley Crue, developed mellow sounds for baby as well as a story CD, Storieszzz: The Adventures of Faye & Fred.
Each CD from Joy Stories, Hanover, N.J., follows a different creature adventure and includes a finger puppet to help kids drift off into sleep land. The CDs, created by Joy Frost and daughter Julie feature eight stories for ages 3 to 9 for specialty toy retailers, gift shops, catalogs and e-retailers.
The debut line of MiYum plush, Hosung, Brooklyn, N.Y., is an organic alternative for bedtime using organic cotton for the plush fabric and stuffing. A PureWaterWash process gives the doll a little color.
Blankets can be security for a child. The babyGund line of nursery products, Gund, Edison, N.J., feature soft, plush blankies as well as plush mobiles that play Hush Little Baby.
