These days, a lot of video games get turned into big-screen features. A perfect complement to any video game stock, DVD releases of the related films might get gamers buying double.
This spring, Capcom's cult favorite Viewtiful Joe will be transformed into an animated feature from Geneon Entertainment, Long Beach, Calif. The movie will be available in the DVD and UMD (for portable console systems) formats.
Maxmedia, Santa Monica, Calif., will produce an animated adaptation of Kameo: Elements of Power, Microsoft Games' story of a young elf who transforms into mythical warriors to save her people from an evil troll king. Production will begin this spring, with a release this holiday season.
Crystal Sky Studios, Los Angeles, will release an adaptation of Namco's Tekken. The property follows the story of childhood friends who take part in a worldwide martial arts contest. Production will also begin this spring at Crystal Sky Studios of a movie based on Namco's iconic Pac-Man game, scheduled for release in 2007. The studio will also produce a version of Konami's cult classic franchise, Castlevania.
