From b-ball to soccer to...

By Tina Benitez -- Playthings, 3/1/2006

Baseball hall of famer and New York Yankee Yogi Berra once said “the game's isn't over until it's over.” Berra was right, and for fantasy baseball lovers, the game goes to a whole new level for PC players.

Software developer Enlight, Parkville, Md., and Sports Mogul will release the latest game in the Baseball Mogul series, Baseball Mogul 2007, a sport simulation game for PC. In Mogul, players can create and manage an entire team, from scouting talent and training to handling team expenses and contracts. Players can also balance rosters and call the shots on the field through an animated play-by-play mode—all until the game is indeed over.

Let the games begin

Other sports are represented this year with new titles for Xbox 360, including FIFA 06 Road to FIFA World Cup, which offers players a next generation soccer game that reacts more realistically to kicks, tackles and passes; and Madden NFL 06 for football fans, NBA Live 06 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, all from EA Sports, Redwood City, Calif.

Street basketball continues in NBA Ballers: Phenom, Midway, Chicago. The latest installment allows for one-on-one play as well as two player mode with 16 new courts, including four street environments.

Ubisoft, San Francisco, and 19-year-old snowboarding Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White have an exclusive worldwide agreement to create video games inspired by White's snowboarding. The games will be developed for current and next-generation consoles and will be released in 2007.
