Listen up!

By Staff -- Playthings, 6/1/2006

In the age of the iPod, handheld digital media is finding a place in every realm of entertainment from music to movies and books. The old “book on tape” concept is getting a make-over, only this time around no tapes are necessary. The new Playaway audio books from Playaway, Chagrin Falls, Ohio, offer users the ability to listen to best-selling books without the hassle of tapes or even downloading. The digital audio-books are about the size of an iPod Mini and feature a pre-loaded novel so that the listening experience can begin right away. Each comes with a pair of ear-buds and a lanyard so the user can listen anywhere. Featured titles include classics like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well modern books like The Broker and The Da Vinci Code. Retail prices begin at $34.95.
