Bears that swear!

By Tina Benitez -- Playthings, 6/1/2006

There's sweet plush, and then there's plush you don't take home to mom. This July, Toy Vault, Corbin, Ky., will release the latter in the form of Birthday Suit Bear and the Talking Plush Swear Bear—both swear heavily. The company also plans a talking plush based on Rygel, the Farscape television series character.

The first ever Farscape plush toy, Rygel stands more than a foot tall—almost 50 percent of the size of the puppet used in the series.

As befits the emperor of a planet with 600 inhabitants, Rygel is dressed in a velvet cloth robe and blurts out egomaniacal phrases much like the TV series' character.

Speaking of phrases, the Talking Plush Bear says some crude ones on command. The Singing Happy Birthday Plush Bear is also a Swear Bear and sings his own distinct version of “Happy Birthday” when squeezed. He's dressed, of course, in his birthday suit. Both are approximately 6 inches tall.
