Mattel, Funimation take on Spider Riders

LOS ANGELES—Cookie Jar Entertainment has given master toy licensing rights to Mattel for its animated series Spider Riders, while Funimation has been granted rights to manufacture and distribute home videos and content for personal players
.
Spider Riders will make its debut on the Kids’ WB! Saturday morning line-up this month, following its premiere year on two Japanese networks. Set in the world of Arachna, the story follows Hunter Steele, a young boy who has fallen into the Inner World and must become a Spider Rider in order to be the Arachna-Master, all while overcoming his fear of spiders.
As master toy licensee, Mattel has the exclusive rights to manufacture and market Spider Riders action figures and accessories, role-play, vehicles, activity sets and more.
“Cookie Jar Entertainment has a history of developing the highest quality brands and transforming them into established franchises, and this goes for their new action-adventure brand Coliseum,” says Tim Kilpin, Mattel's general manager for boys entertainment. “With its inspired anime classic look, strong character development and great storylines, Spider Riders is certain to generate excitement with kids.”
FUNimation will release DVD titles as well as content for media players and video playback units.
