NEW YORK—The Toy Industry Association (TIA) officially announced this morning that the 2007 Fall Toy Show will be held at the Dallas Market Center (DMC), and do so from Oct. 8-11, 2007, an earlier start by almost a week than the dates originally planned for the show had it stayed in New York City.
The move “in no way affects the location of the annual Toy Fair" hosted in February each year in New York City, TIA said in its press release announcing the fall show’s departure from New York. TIA has a contract to hold the February Toy Fair at Manhattan’s Javits Center through 2010.
In Dallas, the fall show will continue to be a by-appointment-only event designed to give mass market retailers a preview of toymakers’ 2008 lines. The DMC will offer private, enclosed showroom space for temporary rental during the event, as well as a large area for traditional exhibits, according to TIA.
TIA said it will send detailed information about new show location, including floor plans, hotel options and other details to companies that have already signed up for the 2007 event as well as to all other prospects. Buyer registration materials will be distributed later in the spring.
