Tomy’s toys for Nintendo

SANTA ANA, Calif.—Tomy has been named the master toy licensee for Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: Wild World video game in the U.S.
The toy line will include the cast of 16 Animal Crossing characters and will include collectible figures, houses, plush and accessories, available this July for specialty retailers across the country.
The role playing game features a world of animals that do everyday, human things from buying a home, working, making friends and celebrating holidays. As players move through the game, days and seasons also change in real time.
Nintendo of America’s vice president of brand management, Gail Tilden, said “Nintendo is thrilled to be working with Tomy. The innovation and quality will add a new dimension to the Animal Crossing franchise.”
The Animal Crossing line of products include: a figures collection of six sets of three different characters and accessories; the Figure/House collection, which features three unique house sets, each with a 1-inch figure and two accessories; Plush Stamps, a 2.5-inch soft figure that sits on top the rubber stamp; six plush keychains; Solar Bobbleheads in characters Curly, Rosie and Stitches; a coin purse; and an 8-inch plush of six different characters.
“Tomy is excited to take the popularity of the Animal Crossing: Wild World game and the uniqueness of the characters and bring them to life,” says Sandra Leo, senior marketing manager. “The continued strength of game sales and the recent hit animated movie in Japan underscore the immense popularity of this evergreen title.
Since its initial launch in 2004, Animal Crossing games have sold more than 7 million units of the Nintendo DS version. Licensed product tied to the film release in Japan have generated more than 40 million at retail.
