EL SEGUNDO, Calif.—Mattel is expected to announce more product recalls this morning, its second announcement within the past month.
The company has scheduled a 10 a.m. ET news conference at which it is expected to announce recalls of a die-cast car and a magnets toy, according to published reports by the Associated Press and Reuters.
The recalls were confirmed by toy industry analyst Sean McGowan, of Wedbush Morgan, who said he had "limited contact last night with management." In a research note this morning, McGowan said he understood the recall to involve a "design problem."
In the meantime, Mattel launched a national advertising campaign in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today attempting to reassure parents of its safety record.
