Fat Brain's safe toy list

By Staff -- Playthings, 8/29/2007 11:40:00 AM

ELKHORN, Neb.—Toy retailer and manufacturer, Fat Brain Toys, has developed a list of resources to assist parents in selecting safe toys.

At the Toy Safety Information Center at www.fatbraintoys.com consumers can find answers to questions regarding toy safety including such things as country of manufacture, links to accredited toy safety organizations, product recalls, manufacturer safety statements, actual safety regulations met and precautionary measures these manufacturers currently employ.

The site also offers links to other accredited toy safety sites like The Toy Industry Association, The American Society for Testing and Materials, The International Council of Toy Industries, The European Safety Standards Commission and The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission.

Another resources, "Where Is It Made?" is a directory of toys available at Fat Brain Toys by country of manufacture, including Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, China, Germany, Spain, France, Great Britain, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Morocco, Macau, Mexico, Poland and Taiwan as well as a huge selection of toys made in the U.S.

"In recent weeks, 'Made in the USA' toys have gotten some well-deserved attention, but there are a lot of very safe, wonderful toys from all over the world!" notes Mark Carson, co-founder of Fat Brain Toys. "We search the globe for safe, meaningful, high quality toys. Toys are our business and our customers appreciate our commitment to safety. Educating our customers on toy safety is part of our role here at Fat Brain Toys."
