Green means go for Global Toy Marketing

By Staff -- Playthings, 1/25/2008 7:19:00 AM

LIVERMORE, Calif.—A new specialty distribution company focused on play and educational toys that are environmentally friendly, Global Toy Marketing Inc., has been launched in part by toy industry veteran Rick Tomasco.

Tomasco, most recently president and CEO of Applepie Toys, will serve as the company’s executive vice president of sales. His partners in the project include former Wellpet (now Petco) chief financial officer John Sauerland as CEO and Ann Richner, a finance and accounting executive, as vice president of operations.

“Our primary focus is combining our global reach with our expertise in North American retail,” said John Sauerland, Global Toy Marketing’s CEO. “GTM’s candidate products are high quality, focus on green use and must be from replenishable sources. We will be offering over 2,000 products over the next several years.”

The company’s 2008 lines will be on display at next month’s American International Toy Fair. [Pictured: Castle playset]
