SAN FRANCISCO—Stevanne Auerbach, Ph.D., better known as Dr. Toy, announced today that she, and the organization built under her trademark, will be not bestow seals of approval to new products this year.
The Dr. Toy Awards program will be on hiatus in 2008, Auerbach says, while she focuses on reorganizing the Dr. Toy organization, and exploring new business prospects and opportunities. With that in mind, “several considerations and offers are being entertained to bring in a matchmaker to connect with an appropriate entity,” according to today’s announcement.
“We want to be ready to provide the toy manufacturers, industry executives, parents, teachers, and all consumer groups with the best on-going services,” Auerbach said. “Ours was never a ‘business,’ but a professional service that greatly expanded. Dr. Toy offers a very unique service and as soon as we formulate the best possible plan for the future, we will notify all of the outstanding companies that have submitted to our award programs and our incredible network of industry professionals.”
In the meantime, the Dr. Toy resources, including Dr. Toy’s Guide, product reviews, and updated information will continue to be provided on the www.drtoy.com website.
The Dr. Toy's Best Children’s Products Awards Program offers several “best of” lists annually, such as Products of Excellence, Best Vacation and the 100 Best. The first “Best Green Product Award” was bestowed on Blue Orange Games in 2007.
