And the winners are...
By Cliff Annicelli -- Playthings, 5/1/2008
The fourth annual Wonder Women of Toys Awards, sponsored by Women In Toys and Playthings magazine, recognize female executives for their exceptional contributions to their own companies and to the toy and children's entertainment business as a whole.
Historically, selections were made in four main categories—Manufacturer, Retailer, Inventor/Designer and Entrepreneur—as well as in a category called “Women To Watch,” which acknowledges new or quickly rising industry members that nominators and the judging panel felt were deserving of special notice. This year, two additional categories were added, recognizing achievement specifically in the areas of licensing and consulting.
Candidates for all of the awards were based strictly on nominations from professionals within the toy industry who submitted essays outlining why they thought a candidate should receive such an honor. Upon closing of the nomination process, a panel of judges comprised of distinguished toy industry members selected, by vote, those who would join the Wonder Women of Toys Class of 2008.
On the following pages, you'll read what makes these industry professionals true Wonder Women within their respective areas of expertise.
