Mrs. Grossman moves on

By Staff -- Playthings, 9/11/2008 1:27:00 PM

PETALUMA, Calif.—Mrs. Grossman’s said today that founder and president Andrea Grossman is handing over the sticker company’s leadership to her son, Jason Grossman.

Going forward, Andrea Grossman will continue to be involved with Mrs. Grossman’s design and product development team, but after 30 years of running her own company, she “is ready to explore other ventures.”

“A lot of interests are tugging at me,” said Grossman. “I am involved with Prison Fellowship and visiting people in prisons throughout the country has changed my life. I want to do more of that. I’m on various boards serving people with severe disabilities and people in desperate need. All of these people need more help and this is something I so much want to do. I see this as an opportunity for me to be more involved in causes that really touch my heart.”

Grossman, a graphic designer, started Mrs. Grossman’s as a home-based design business in 1979. Since then it has brought to market more than 2,200 sticker designs. Today the company is housed in an 110,000 square foot corporate headquarters with its own printing plant. Its products are sold throughout the U.S., Canada and Japan.

Jason Grossman, 45, has been “working alongside Andrea in every position from purchasing to company vice president since 1988 and there’s not much I don’t know about how Mrs. Grossman’s works.”

In that time, Jason Grossman has been credited with taking Mrs. Grossman’s printing back in-house, launching its Paragon Label division in 1998 in order to diversity the company’s business, and acquiring former competitor McCoy Label, a wine and food label printing businesses. He also spearheaded the creation of Mrs. Grossman’s sticker factory tour, which attracts more than 30,000 visitors a year, according to the company.
