NEW YORK—The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association has appointed Roger Berman managing director of LIMA Japan.
Berman replaces Fumihiko “Pochi” Kusama, who recently stepped down as Managing Director of LIMA Japan after seven years. Berman, an Englishman, has lived in Tokyo since 1984.
“Roger Berman has a very extensive knowledge of the Japanese licensing market,” said Charles Riotto, LIMA’s president. “Under Roger’s leadership, LIMA Japan will continue to provide effective support to licensors and licensees and foster strong market growth.”
The move is the latest in a busy year for the trade association. This summer it wrapped up its last tradeshow in New York City before decamping for Las Vegas in 2009, its board of directors recently adopted a new three-year strategic plan, and it expanded its executive staff in an effort to “enhance member services and grow the licensing business around the world.”
“We are building momentum and positioning LIMA as the voice of this ever-evolving industry and its dynamic membership,” said Riotto.
