MALIBU, Calif.—Jakks Pacific has acquired the children’s product businesses of Hong Kong-based Tollytots Ltd. and Westborough, Mass.-based Kids Only Inc.
Tollytots (www.tollytots.com) is an 8-year-old, privately held manufacturer of a line of licensed baby dolls and baby doll pretend play accessories based on Graco and other known brands.
Kids Only (www.kidsonlytoys.com) is a 13-year-old, privately held company primarily involved in licensed indoor and outdoor kids’ furniture. Its portfolio also includes baby dolls and accessories, room décor and several additional toy types. Kids Only’s licenses include several that overlap Jakks’ current rights—Princesses, Mickey Mouse, High School Musical, Spongebob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer, and Batman among them—as well as several licenses new to Jakks’ portfolio. Jakks' purchase includes Kids Only's Hong Kong affiliate.
"We believe these innovative and expansive product lines complement our portfolio and further augment Jakks’ industry-leading position in the doll category and licensed children’s products overall," said Stephen Berman, Jakks’ president and COO. "Both companies bring seasoned product developers and marketers who have successfully expanded their classic product categories. We fully expect to further grow their reach with Jakks’ distribution capabilities, implement efficiencies to maximize profitability and expand their reach around the world.”
