Bandai adds 'PopPixie' rights

LORETO, Italy—Children’s programmer Rainbow SpA has tapped Bandai as European master toy licensee for its new animated television series PopPixie.Scheduled to debut in fall 2010, PopPixie is a spin-off of Rainbow’s Winx Club series. The property’s pixie characters have been offered as a line of rolls in Italy since 2006.
Under its new deal, Bandai will produce a complete PopPixie toy line, including dolls, figurines, plush and playsets for distribution throughout Europe in fall 2010.
“PopPixie is undoubtedly going to be a key brand for Bandai. We have been greatly impressed with Rainbow’s creativity, and are confident that the show will be very popular worldwide—which will consequently drive strong demand for the associated toy line,” said José Antonio Vargas, president of Bandai Europe.
To date, PopPixie has been pre-sold to more than 20 countries worldwide.
