G.I. Joe promotion offers custom figure

PAWTUCKET, R.I.—Hasbro today launched a promotion that lets G.I. Joe fans create avatars of themselves as virtual action figures—and offers a chance to win an actual action figure in their own likeness.
Accessed at www.GiJoe.com, the promotion prompts visitors to “pick a side” and create either a G.I. Joe or COBRA avatar that resembles a 3.75-inch action figure, customize it with unique uniforms and gear, then tell the story of their character and what skills they would bring to either the G.I. Joe or COBRA team. Thirty-nine winners from around the world with the most creative characters and bios will have their face scanned and put on the body of their unique character in a “real life” 3.75 inch action figure.
The effort is in anticipation of next month’s big screen release of G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra.
