This week’s Product Showcase spotlights new children’s home video releases from Anchor Bay Entertainment, Lionsgate Entertainment, Master Communications, NCircle Entertainment and Rock 'N Learn.



Anchor Bay Entertainment brings Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! Home on October 13 with help from pop diva Beyoncé Knowles (in her voiceover debut) in an extended version of the TV special Wubb Idol ($16.98). The 93-minute DVD boast double the content of the original TV movie version of Wubb Idol, an exclusive Beyoncé song (“Sing-a-Song”) plus includes special activities, coloring pages and music videos. In the movie, Wubbzy hopes to win the “Wuzzleberg Idol” talent contest; along the way learns the importance of being himself.

Lionsgate brings home HIT Entertainment’s Fireman Sam in an all new computer animated adventure, Fireman Sam: Help Is Here! ($14.98). The 45-minute collection includes several episodes of the only firefighter-themed children’s show on TV in which Fireman Sam and friends make courageous rescues throughout the town of Pontypandy.

Master Communications’ extensive Families of the World home video series ventures back to Mexico in September for the first time since its award-winning jaunt there 12 years ago with the release of More Families of Mexico ($29.95). The DVD takes viewers inside the lives of two children in Mexico in order to show viewers the children’s culture, family life and daily activities.

Sid the Science Kid: Change Happens (pictured; $12.99) and Sid the Science Kid: The Bug Club are the debut titles from NCircle Entertainment based on the animated preschool series from The Jim Henson Co. and KCET Los Angeles. Both DVDs include four episodes of the TV series each. In Change Happens, Sid and friends must work together to discover the effects of time, temperature and the environment. In The Bug Club, Sid and co. learn about insects, animals and other elements of nature.

Life Science ($19.99), the sixth addition to Rock ’N Learn’s Test Preparation DVD series, gives kids in grades 3 through 8 a grounding in life science with help from hosts Marko the Pencil and his friend Bailey as they experience photosynthesis, pollination, the lifecycle of an insect, plan and animal cells, ecosystems and genetic adaptation at Marko’s Super Science Station.
