MALIBU, Calif.—Jakks Pacific’s Stephen Berman is being honored by Operation Smile for his and Jakks' support of the organization’s efforts to provide free surgery to correct children’s facial deformities.
Berman, Jakks’ president and co-CEO, is credited with spearheading this summer’s Jakks Cares Operation Smile fundraiser. The campaign raised more than $100,000 directly from Jakks’ employees worldwide, a figure that the toymaker then matched.
“Our business is about making children smile and Operation Smile is an organization that is dear to my heart,” said Berman. “I am so proud of how Jakks employees worldwide have embraced this wonderful organization and worked hard to raise smiles for those that need it the most. I would like to thank Operation Smile for this prestigious award and for all the work that they do to make positive changes in children’s lives across the globe.”
Berman will receive Operation Smile’s Corporate Humanitarian Award at the Smile Gala on Friday, October 2, 2009, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
