Toys R Us ends Boire era

By Staff -- Playthings, 9/23/2009 3:26:00 PM

WAYNE, N.J.—Toys R Us executive Ron Boire is out of a job following the retailer’s elimination of his position.

According to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Boire’s position was eliminated yesterday. Since February of this year Boire had been president of ‘R’ Us Brands, responsible for the retailer's private label product development and global sourcing.

Boire joined Toys R Us in July 2006 as president of Toys R Us, U.S., from Best Buy, where he had been executive vice president and global merchandise manager. In September of 2007 he added oversight of Canada to his responsibilities as president of Toys R Us, North America.

Toys R Us is in the midst of integrating its formerly separate Toys R Us and Babies R Us businesses under a single executive team.
