NEW YORK—4Kids Entertainment has been named the worldwide licensing agent for Quints, a revival of Tyco Toys’ early ’90s line of 2-inch dolls sold in sets of five.
4Kids will seek a global master toy licensee to produce the 21st century version of the property, as well as merchandising partners in several additional categories to extend the line beyond dolls.
The original Quints assortment grew to include playsets, clothing and environments designed specifically for the five siblings, composed of three girls and two boys, each with numbers stamped on their diapers. The line was one of the unpredicted hits of 1990’s holiday season. By 1991, nearly a dozen different sets of the popular dolls were being offered worldwide.
“Given that the original Quints fans are now mothers themselves, we have a whole new generation of girls who will love the updated Quints as passionately as their mothers did in the early ’90s,” said Alfred R. Kahn, 4Kids’ chairman and CEO.
In 2004, MGA Entertainment introduced its take on the quintuplet doll concept with its 5Sies line, product from which can still be found for sale online from Amazon.com affiliates.
