MacPherson's pulls kids' easels over lead

WASHINGTON—MacPherson's, Emeryville, Calif., is recalling 10,000 units of its Young Artist Easel because the product's chalkboard surface contains higher than allowable levels of lead.

The recall involves MacPherson's two-sided easel (one side has a chalkboard surface, the other a white board surface) with item number AA13301 and UPC 082435133010, which can be found on the original packaging.

The product was sold primarily at art supply stores nationwide and online from July 2004 through June 2009 for about $75.It was made in China.

Consumers are asked to contact the company to receive a free replacement chalkboard panel.
