Playing hero
The animated series Jackie Chan Adventures comes to life this fall, courtesy of Playmates. The martial arts-themed line will feature figures and playsets with interactive action elements, so kids can reenact Jackie's Saturday morning battles.
The high-octane, comedic cartoon, which is gearing up for its second season, has proven to be a hit among boys of all ages, with the merchandise targeting 3- to 9-year olds.
Easy access
Universal Studios Consumer Products has announced plans to use RightsLine Internet technology to Web-enable its broadcast film clip and photo still licensing process. Using RightLine's tools, Universal's licensees can research titles, order materials, and complete the licensing transaction process from their desktops.
Evil Elves
Evil Genius Toys (formerly Living Toyz) is presenting a line of action figures based on the long running comic book series ElfQuest.
The company plans to release 12 figures a year, choosing from hundreds of available characters within the fantasy world. ElfQuest's popularity has spawned more than 400 fan websites, and Evil Genius Toys has linked those sites with the intention of directing potential buyers to the retailers supporting their products.
An animated feature film is also in the works.
