Golden sponge
Spongebob Squarepants is making waves on bookshelves as Golden Books launches its line based on Nickelodeon's hit animated series.
Starting in March and continuing through the summer, the company is releasing a wide array of titles, including a Bendable Character Activity Book (in the shape of Spongebob himself) and a 3-D, liquid-filled Jellyfishing Glasses and Activity book.
Golden Books is supporting the launch with a Spongebob "Design-A-Tie" contest, in which kids 4 to 17 can win some cool merchandise.
Rabbit season
United Media has announced its new dual brand strategy for the World of Beatrix Potter property, which includes partnering with a major retailer while maintaining the integrity of the classic brand.
The new brand extension, called the Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit collection, includes feeding products from Luv n' Care, bedding from Crown Crafts and infant accessories. Other infant-related products will follow.
United Media Licensing recently partnered with Copyrights Group Limited to handle the licensing and sales of its portfolio of characters, including the World of Beatrix Potter, Maisy and Paddington Bear.
Beatrix Potter's The Tale of Peter Rabbit celebrates its 100th Anniversary in 2002.
