June 29, 2007—Toy Industry Association's Toy Industry Foundation announced made its first international donation of toys, distributing more than $25,000 worth of product to orphanages in Pointe Noire in the Congo.
Through the foundation’s Toy Bank program, U.S. Ambassador Robert Weisberg and his wife Nergish distributed the toys to children in Congolese orphanages. More toys will be distributed in Brazaville in the Congo in the next few weeks, TIF said.
The donation was facilitated through the International Partnership for Human Development, a nonprofit working in the region, and Gifts in Kind International, TIF's Toy Bank partner.
"The Toy Industry Foundation is thrilled to extend its reach globally," said Jean Butler, Toy Industry Foundation’s executive director. "Our mission is to bring joy to children in need. We look forward to putting more smiles on children's faces in North America and around the globe."
