Salesperson of the Year
March 3, 2008
It is estimated that about 95% of the salespeople in the toy industry are independent sales representatives. In that nothing happens unless a toy gets sold, independent sales representatives are therefore not only pivotal to the success of most manufacturers and retailers but to the industry as a whole. Yet, when it comes time to give out awards, there is no “Salesperson of the Year” award offered by the toy industry.
Don’t you think that should change? Wouldn’t it be nice for the retail community, the manufacturing community and the sales community to come together and choose a “Salesperson of the Year” every year?
The award would not be based upon sales volume (the commissions from that are a reward in itself). It would be based upon criteria like communication, knowledge, and follow up. It could also consider passion, compassion and more. Not only would it give long overdue recognition to the sales industry, it would provide a model for best practices. The sales industry would benefit and, as importantly, the toy industry would as well.
Who would be your nominee for “Salesperson of the Year?”
