Toy Safety Update: The States
May 6, 2008

In my last blog I discussed the great concern that we all have regarding the number and quality of the toy safety bills currently in play in the various states. Here is a list of states that have either passed or are considering toy safety legislation. I have listed the states in alphabetical order. Please contact your representative and senator and let them know that you want one Federal law. While you are at it, get your employees, co-workers, friends and family to do the same. If you are not sure who your representatives are, go to the TIA Advocacy link to find out.

Thank you for sharing this important news that affects the entire toy industry. I had no idea that different legislation was being considered in diffferent states... Your blog encouraged me to write each of my state's lawmakers. I encourage the rest of the industry to do so as well - we need to keep the toy economy healthy for our businesses, and for our kids too!

The process for developing safe toys should be streamlined and uniform. It is important that we all adopted a nationwide policy to protect consumers as well as toy and game manufacturers. Thanks for the blog Richard!

This is such a huge and important issue it needs national attention and national legislation. Multiple laws and guidelines from individual states serves only to complicate things.
