“We believe every child should have their five minutes of fame,” says Trish Lindsay, CEO of Star Farm Productions. “We also wanted to provide a safe place for kids to interact and be creative so our site is COPA-complaint. Another feature on the site is interactive games and the ability to participate in an online travel writing workshop designed for kids. There are plans for tutorials on storyboarding, animation, music and sound design. It’s not all just for kids “Education is actually woven into everything we do and each book explores a different type of literature; poetry, travel writing and journal writing,” adds Lindsay. “It makes it easier for teachers to use the books in class.” To further assist teachers, Star Farm has created a teacher’s guide which has curriculum-based activities and can be downloaded for free from the Edgar & Ellen Web site at www.edgarandellen.com. With all this and a marketing plan everyone can see (click the image above to get a view), Edgar & Ellen just might be the book property to watch in 2005.

The Internet plays a huge role in how children interact with the world. Keeping that in mind, Star Farm Productions of Chicago has developed a Web site where kids can suggest new plot lines and story themes, write reviews of the books and actually write articles for the “Nod’s Limbs Gazette.”
