Toy of the Week: PHD Productions' Pocket Disc![]() February 2, 2010 Depending on your point of view, Pocket Discs are either flying toys or hippie pot holders—or both, and more; even their marketers will tell you so. But since PHD Productions is marketing them as flying toys, who are we to argue with “what” they are and instead will focus on what they offer. The Pocket Disc is a simple crocheted flying disk with a “firm but flimsy” design that’s floppy enough for indoor play that’s unlikely to break anything or hurt anyone, yet is still sturdy enough for any Frisbee-style skill game one could think of outdoors.
Each disc is handmade through a fair trade partnership with a group of more than 200 weavers in Guatemala.
PHD Productions January 26, 2010: P'Kolino Chalk Table![]() P’Kolino’s “playfully smart” play table line adds the Chalk Table, a table and bench set with a reversible flip top that easily hides the tabletop’s chalkboard surface in a storage compartment underneath it. The compartment is also deep enough to store art supplies. Made of fiber board, the 24-inch by 24-inch square table with rounded corners is 20 inches high. Its two bench chairs are 10.25 inches high.
