TORONTO—Following yesterday’s announcement that original Aqua Dots manufacturer Moose Enterprises was recalling its line in Australia, Spin Master is requesting retailers in North America remove Aqua Dots products from their shelves.
This week Moose recalled its version of Aqua Dots—marketed in Australia as Bindeez—because of concerns over the chemical reaction that takes place if the craft kits’ beads are swallowed. According to the company, tests showed that some batches of beads were not produced according to its approved formula.
Spin Master said in a statement today that it is “working diligently to identify any shipments that could potentially be included in a recall by the CPSC and Canadian officials.” The company has not announced the number of Aqua Dots kits and refill sets affected by the recall.
Aqua Dots are sold in the U.S. at traditional retailers and by Spin Master’s Spin Direct division through direct response television campaigns and other direct-to-consumer means.
