Braincandy ups funding

By Staff -- Playthings,08/07/2007

SEATTLE—Braincandy, the children’s home entertainment producer, said it raised $1 million in funding from angel investors and distribution partner Rhino Entertainment.

Braincandy’s capital infusion will be used to complete additional titles in its debut early learning video and audio series, as well as fund “a broad marketing effort” in support of the national retail availability of its products during 2007’s fourth quarter.

Braincandy also announced the addition of former Washington governor Booth Gardner to its board of advisors and developmental psychologist and children’s media researcher Dr. Michael Cohen to its board of directors.

“We are proud that we’ve attracted the participation of partners like Rhino Entertainment, as well as the support of Booth Gardner and Dr. Michael Cohen, as we move into broad retail channels and extend our product line,” said Sam Reich-Dagnen, Braincandy CEO.

In Playthings' July issue, Braincandy talked about its upcoming merchandising plans.
